چکیده
Lessons from recent earthquakes have provided a tough reality check of the traditional seismic design approach and technologies, highlighting urgent need for paradigm shift performance-based criteria objectives toward low-damage philosophy technologies whole building system. Modern society is asking “earthquake proof” resilient buildings that are able to withstand events without compromising their functionality. The EU-funded SERA (Seismology Earthquake Engineering Research Infrastructure Alliance Europe Project) project discussed in this paper opportunity develop validate within European context an integrated prototype, including main structure non-structural elements, next generation high-performance buildings. This presents overview research, involving three-dimensional shake table tests two-storey 1:2 scaled timber-concrete post-tensioned dissipative “dressed” by earthquake-resistant gypsum/masonry partitions glass/concrete facades. Specimen details, construction assembly phases, test setup, experimental results discussed. After many cycles input motions at increasing levels intensity (higher than Collapse Prevention Limit State), system exhibited very high performance. campaign carried out National Laboratory Civil Lisbon confirmed unique potential widespread implementation into practice.

متن کاملUncertainty Analysis of System Identification Results Obtained for a Seven Story Building Slice Tested on the UCSD-NEES Shake Table
A full-scale seven-story reinforced concrete building section/slice was tested on the NEES shake table at the University of California San Diego during the period of October 2005 to January 2006. Three output-only system identification methods were used to extract the modal parameters (natural frequencies, damping ratios, and mode shapes) of the test structure at different damage states. In thi...

متن کاملLiquefaction Triggering Criterion Using Shake Table Test
Earthquake induced liquefaction in saturated granular soils is an important phenomenon causing severe damages. In order to minimize the ill-effects due to liquefaction, various lab tests, field tests are being used which assess the liquefaction potential. In the present study the shake table test has been used for assessing soil liquefaction of loose saturated cohesionless sand by simulating ea...
متن کاملNonlinear Shake Table Identification and Control for Near-field Earthquake Testing
The primary focus of a structural shake table system is the accurate reproduction of acceleration records for testing. However, many systems deliver variable and less than optimal performance, particularly when reproducing large near-field seismic events that require extreme table performance. Improved identification and control methods are developed for large hydraulic servo-actuated shake tab...
